We were blessed to be invited to speak on three platforms over the past six weeks. For the most recent, I sat with Lyreshia Bonds to answer pointed questions about who Muriyd Two Clouds Williams was, what he contributed to the world before being murdered by pseudo-friends and -comrades, and what law enforcement has been doing about it.
A native Newarker like us, Lyreshia filed a lawsuit in federal court against the state of New Jersey for discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. She has also been fighting for several years to have her mentally ill nephew released from prison due to bogus charges she documents in videos, an autobiography, and a podcast as being in retribution to her refusal to back down from the state.

I had a great conversation with Lyreshia. As someone who worked nearly a decade on the 'inside' as a probation officer, earned a BA in Criminal Justice, and MA in Political Science and Public Affairs, she is a wonderful ally to have by our sides. She is selfless, and shares her experience, expertise, and platform with families like my own who are suffering at the hands of a racist and broken judicial system that proves time and again that our lives do not matter to them. Not black lives. Not red lives. Not brown lives.
